Interview with HITT Following his 2012 European Tour

After HITT finished his European tour, which lasted from February until April, we decided to contact this lively artist. We asked him about his impressions from the tour and latest releases.


A few days ago you played the last concert from your most recent European tour. What are your impressions of this tour? Do you have any particularly nice or unpleasant memories related to it?

HITT: So far I've played numerous live tours and visited many countries. Each and every one of these experiences helped me grow and build my career as a musician. I think that particularly during this year's tour, which took three months to finish, I was able to ascertain the legacy of my earlier achievements and hard work and obtain true self-confidence. Not only as a musician, but also as a human being.

How were you welcomed by fans in countries which you visited for the first time?

HITT: The first thing that comes to my mind is that all fans - even more than I myself - consider HITT to be a rock star and that's how they treat me. Of course I'm very happy because of this, but I think that the time hasn't come yet [for that kind of reception]. Though when I'm on stage and performing, I think that for all of them I must bear the responsibility of acting like a rock star.

Is there a country you'd like to perform in but haven't had the chance yet?

HITTI'd like to play in other Asian countries, USA and Brasil. If only such an opportunity arises, I will definitely take this challenge.

During overseas concerts you always say a few sentences in the local language. Which one was the most difficult to learn?

HITT: If it only were possible, I'd like to master all languages. But since it's next to impossible, the really important thing is to learn English. Because I'm often surrounded by people who speak French, first and foremost I need to learn French.

In March, while on tour, you released two singles: For Myself and For My Lover. Could you tell us something more about them? Why did you choose those titles?

HITT: On all the songs from For Myself, I sing about myself. I wanted to show my personality. Without a doubt they are also cheer-up songs for my life. [The songs on] For My Lover, as the title suggests, are for the person I love. A human is a human because he loves others. Isn't life boring when you don't love anyone? When I love someone, I do so very passionately.

You usually perform alone on the stage, which seems quite difficult to do. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this kind of performance?

HITT: The good thing is that everyone is focused only on me. It's good because I'm a very jealous man. The bad thing is that I bear all the responsibility. But that's also the reason why this job makes sense. I like to perform alone, but not because I enjoy being alone. I like people and that's why during a HITT show I want to share my music with everyone. Onstage I mirror the notion that a man cannot live alone.

You gave your first overseas concerts in 2009. What memories do you have from those lives?

HITT: I was able to go to different countries and hold numerous meetings. Because I'm also human, I even fell in love. (laughs) During that period I also had a lot of issues and experiences, but generally speaking I regret nothing, because in musical terms and on a personal level I gave all my best. What I gained thanks to those tours is a career as a musician. What I cherish even more are the meetings with people from different countries and friendships that I acquired.

You often come to Europe, even several times a year. Doesn't that tire you out?

HITT: It is tiring, but it's not something that everyone can do. That's why I feel joy in my heart and I am proud of my life. But I also feel the anxiety that this opportunity might expire and that's why during every concert I give it my best. I want to be the kind of singer whose worth can be judged by the fact that he'll be invited to perform in the same country again.

During your concerts it's easy to see that you have amazing contact with the audience. How do you do it? What is your secret?

HITT: It's incredibly easy. You have to convey love. If it's love, even if the languages are different, you can make the contact.

Your last full album was released in 2010. Are you going to release a new one anytime soon?

HITT: Of course, I always want to create more [music]. I actually managed to compile a lot of good songs.

Your latest mini-album Because it's love... features LaLiLaLuLaLoLa, a song with Latino rhythms and addictive chorus. Can you tell us what inspired you to write it?

HITT: You might not believe me, but a god of music is right next to me… that's why the melody in this song was sent from the heavens.

In your previous interview with JaME, you said that you can play the piano and the bass. Are there any other instruments that you'd like to be able to play?

HITT: Guitar. Recently I managed to play it for the recording session, but
it's hard [to master it].

During your meeting with Polish fans, you said that your biggest dream is to gather all HITTERS from around the world and play a concert for them. If there is a possibility to fulfill that dream, where will you do that? Do you have any other dreams?

HITT: Of course I'd like to do it in Tokyo, in my native country! My other dream is to have a whole-hearted home/family.

I'm sure you often get messages from fans from all over the world. Which country was the most unexpected for you to realize that you are known there?

HITT: Mexico. I was surprised by its fans' strength and energy. I also checked them out on YouTube – they scream more than fans from any other country. (laughs)

Recently you turned thirty. Has this age introduced some kind of a breakthrough in your life? Has anything changed about you because of your current age?

HITT: I've started to think about the future and the past every day. First, I looked at my twenties. To be frank, I worked very hard. I repeated the mistakes and it's still the same. If it weren't for the past mistakes, I wouldn't grow. Now, when I'm beginning my thirties, new energy has awoken in me, but my heart hasn't changed. What doesn't change is what becomes subjected to constant changes.

You have been active on the music scene for over ten years. How has your attitude towards music changed during this time?

HITT: I don't know if ten years is a long or a short period of time. I'm just happy that through all this time I've continued being engaged in music. I'm grateful to my fans (HITTERS).

What are your plans for the future? Are you going to tour any other places than Europe or Japan?

HITT: Because I haven't played in Asian countries, I'd really like to go there. But never mind which country invites me, I'll say "YES."

HITT: Thank you for loving my music. I LOVE HITTERS.
